Made up of proficient and experienced trainers, our team are dedicated to delivering first class training across a number of sectors.
Beginning his career in the late 70’s as Senior Communication Systems Advisor in Her Majesty’s Forces, Tony has over 35 years’ experience in network design, training, control and distribution of technical equipment. After leaving the forces in 1995, he went on to become the General Manager of Teleconnect Communications Ltd, before progressing to the role of Managing Director for Lambda Technologies Ltd. Working in managerial positions at both S&G Smart Tech Solutions Ltd and Planet X, Tony finally brought his knowledge to ntrs in 2012 where he became the General Manager of the company. Helping to bringing ntrs into repute, he decided to make training his priority in 2015 when he took on the Professional Head of Training role. With qualifications in a number of managerial, telecommunications and military-based courses, Tony is a renowned expert in his field who demonstrates his abilities on a daily basis.
In his spare time he enjoys golf, water sports, fitness training and spending time with his family.
As one of our current experienced and skilled Training Instructors at the National Training Academy, David spent 4 years in the South Yorkshire Police Force before going on to complete his full 22 years’ service in the Royal Marines.
After serving our nation globally in operational military roles and instructor based positions, David accrued a large number of trainer related qualifications, including a BTEC level 4 in teaching and a level 3 in leadership and management. Having reached the rank of Sergeant in the Royal Marines, David’s experience of leading within demanding, high-pressure situations stand him in good stead to share his knowledge and awareness with present and future trainees. He stated that “teaching others to be the best they can be is the most rewarding profession I could hope for.”
With over 20 solid years of training under his belt and a master’s degree in Radio Communications and High Frequency Engineering, Steve has all the qualifications, the experience and the passion necessary to ensure he is a continually exceptional trainer.
After a three year stint as a Network Engineer, Steve turned his hand to training and never looked back. As a technical trainer he travelled globally, presenting and delivering courses – predominately in the discipline of optical transport networks. In later years he also wrote a number of bespoke and designed courseware for two of Alcatels’ biggest network deployment projects while still remaining immersed in training. Steve not only loves being a trainer, but he loves that it was something he ‘discovered early on and continues to rediscover every day.’
As a former Royal Signal’s Telecoms Mechanic who served in the army from 1998 until 2005, Nigel brings with him the meticulous sense of discipline gathered from 7 years in service…
After being medically discharged from the army in 05, Nigel joined ntrs where he undertook and impressively completed a training course. In February of 2014, after displaying both passion and expertise, Nigel became a trainer at the National Training Academy. Nearly a year on he remains thrilled with and devoted to his position of work. He says, ‘I really love working here, it feels like I am truly able to give back to the company and services which gave so much to me.’
Beginning his career in the early 80’s in the 1st Battalion Walsh Guards in (Signal Platoon) and as Communication Systems Operator in The Royal Corps of Signals, Eric has over 35 years’ experience in Communications.
During his 23 years in the Royal Corps of Signals, Eric became an expert in control and distribution of technical and Communications equipment which led to him becoming a Telecommunications instructor.
Leaving the forces in 2005 with a passion for training, Eric joined The College Partnerships. It was during this time that he discovered the railway and spent 6 years gaining experience and knowledge of the railway by carrying out the duties of a Possession Support and Handsignalman. (AOD(HS), regularly carrying out the duties of an Individual Working Alone. (IWA) and completing Patrolling and Inspections.
Utilising his passion for training and knowledge of the railway, Eric joined Tresham College responsible for the training, delivery and assessment for the NVQ Diploma in Railway Engineering. Progressing his career and developing his knowledge in education, Eric then went on to become a Quality Assurance Manager and Training Director for another well-known training provider.
Eric has several managerial, telecommunications and military-based qualifications, is a renowned expert in his field and is an asset to ntrs and all our training candidates.
As a recognised expert in the field of Signalling and training, Mike has been a part of the industry since 1972 and has steadily increased both his national and international presence undertaking projects worldwide.
With over 40 years of experience in railway signalling and train control – covering Design, Test and Commissioning, Maintenance and Engineering Management – Mike branched out into training and staff development in 2004. With the creation and directorship of the company Railway Control Systems ltd from 1997 to 2002 – and his 9 years of training and consultancy, Mike has a wealth of experience in his field . Joining us in January 2014 as the Signalling Trainer, his obvious passion was displayed from the onset and continues to manifest itself through his ‘love of the work’.
